Are you truly ready to make 2025 your breakthrough year in your publishing business? If so, this guide is for you! Gone are the days of scraping by, piecing things together, and hoping for results. Now is the time to buckle in, lean into your publishing goals, and create a game plan that will take your business to the next level.
In this post, I’m breaking down an actionable game plan for women in publishing who want to grow their income, make a bigger impact, and truly thrive in 2025. Let’s dive in!
1. Start with a Clear Vision
Your success starts with setting a clear vision for 2025. Ask yourself:
- What types of books will you publish—both for yourself and others?
- How many projects do you want to complete?
- Who is your target audience or ideal client?
It’s crucial to get specific. Instead of trying to publish books for everyone, lean into a niche. For example:
- Will you specialize in nonfiction self-help books?
- Or perhaps focus on publishing planners, journals, or children’s books?
For publishers creating their own books, define your audience and goals just as clearly. Personally, I’m a fan of writing in series, and I already have plans for an exciting book series launching in 2025.
Set your vision, write it down, and get ready to make it a reality.
2. Create a Signature Front-End Offer
A front-end offer is the service or product you promote consistently. It’s what brings clients into your publishing business.
For example, my signature front-end offer is priced at $599 and leads directly into my done-for-you publishing services. By having a clear, paid front-end offer, I attract serious leads while staying focused and efficient in my business.
Consider what your front-end offer could be:
- A paid workshop.
- A book publishing package.
- A small digital product, like a workbook or eBook.
This strategy allows you to attract clients without constantly reinventing your approach.
3. Build Systems for Efficiency
To grow a thriving publishing business, you need systems that work for you—even when you’re not actively managing them. Tools like HoneyBook, Dubsado, and Systeme.io can help you automate tasks like onboarding clients, managing projects, and building email funnels.
For example, at BWE Publishing & Consulting, we use HoneyBook to manage leads and client inquiries seamlessly. These tools not only save time but also elevate your customer experience.
Gone are the days of being afraid of tech—it’s time to embrace it!
4. Develop Multiple Streams of Income
One of the best ways to grow your publishing business is by creating multiple revenue streams. Here are a few ideas:
- Sell journals, planners, or MiniHER books.
- Offer workshops or courses on self-publishing.
- Build a membership community for aspiring authors or publishers.
By creating a buyer base, you can continue to offer value through additional products and services, ensuring steady income over time.
5. Show Up as a Leader
In 2025, you need to use content marketing to showcase your expertise. Whether it’s through YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook, commit to creating content regularly.
For example, I focus on YouTube as my primary platform, where I share tips, tutorials, and insights about publishing. The key is to pick one platform, show up consistently, and maximize its features (e.g., posts, shorts, live videos).
6. Build a Network and Community
Publishing isn’t a solo journey. Surround yourself with like-minded women who understand your goals. I created the Profitable Publishers Collective to provide women in publishing with a supportive network, resources, and weekly coaching.
You also need to build your own community, whether it’s an email list, a Facebook group, or both. This allows you to nurture your audience, gain loyal clients, and foster deeper connections.
7. Launch a High-Impact Marketing Plan
Marketing is essential to attract and retain clients. Your marketing plan should include strategies for email marketing, social media, and even collaborations.
For example, I email my list daily to nurture leads and build trust. Even if someone doesn’t purchase immediately, staying top of mind ensures they may convert later.
8. Evaluate and Adjust Quarterly
Finally, review your progress every quarter. Look at what’s working, what isn’t, and where you can make adjustments. I like to use 90-day sprints for my books and marketing campaigns, which allows me to track results and pivot as needed.
Your Year to Lead in Publishing
2025 is your year to thrive in publishing. With a clear vision, efficient systems, a solid front-end offer, and a strong marketing plan, you can create the income and impact you’ve always dreamed of.
