Welcome back to the CEO Author Podcast! I love talking about book marketing. There are so many strategies that work but my advice is to find your strategy, work it and be consistent.
I am known to always say “Think beyond the book” Don’t focus on just book sales but what happens during and after someone buys your book
I love publishing on platforms such as Amazon KDP
however, you should have a HOME. You should have a website or a landing page for your brand. I use WordPress which I purchase all of my domains at Bluehost.
You don’t have to start there. BWE Publishing and Consulting website is hosted on Leadpages
I love leadpages because you can build a website or just have a one-page website. Also, it is super easy to use.
Let’s get into book marketing.
You want to know your target audience. The benefits of conducting market research to identify the demographics, interests, and preferences of your potential readers.
Develop a comprehensive marketing plan: Your marketing plan should have a prelaunch strategy, launch strategy, and post-launch. Take the time to sit down and plan out what your marketing plan will look like for you and your business.
You want to include both online and offline strategies. There are various marketing channels such as social media, email marketing, content marketing, influencer partnerships, book launch events, public speaking engagements, and book tours.
Build an author platform: You want to establish your online presence and engage with your target audience. Some strategies I suggest are creating a professional author website or blog, utilizing social media platforms, and engaging with readers through newsletters or podcasts.
Leverage book reviews and endorsements: Beta readers are a great place to start. You can invite 3-5 of your peers to review your book and leave a review. You can have them leave a review on Amazon, Barn, and Noble etc. You can also have these reviews on your website or book landing page. These review will help you gain more book sales. Positive reviews and endorsements can generate interest and credibility for your book.
Seek reviews from trusted sources, engage with book bloggers or influencers in their niche, and utilize reader testimonials to showcase the value of their book.
Collaborate with influencers and thought leaders: Explore the benefits of collaborating with influencers or thought leaders in your industry to expand your reach and gain credibility.
Utilize email marketing: You can grow your email list with pre-orders. Once someone pre-order your book you can offer valuable content, exclusive promotions, or bonuses to incentivize readers for pre-ordering your book.
Engage in book signings and speaking engagements: There is still value in in-person events such as book signings, book fairs, or speaking engagements to connect directly with potential readers and establish relationships.
If you want to make book sales each month think of Amazon. They always have upsells. On your landing page offer your book and a upsell. You must have the right tool for the upsell. I like Kartra, Kajabi, Systeme are some great tools to use.
On the thank you page have a upsell. You may already have these tools available in your content so just repurpose what you already have
You got this CEO! Make a plan and work your plan.
