Here are some proven strategies I’ve used before
- Schedule writing time: As a busy CEO, your schedule is likely packed with meetings, calls, and other responsibilities. However, finding time to write is crucial if you want to make progress on your book. What I find that works for me is writing at night. I like to read in the morning so writing at night is better for my schedule.
- Create a writing routine: Building a consistent writing routine can help you stay focused and motivated, even when you’re short on time.
- Eliminate distractions: Distractions can be a major barrier to writing productivity, especially if you’re working in a busy office environment. Strategies for eliminating distractions and staying focused, such as turning off your phone notifications, using noise-cancelling headphones, or finding a quiet workspace away from distractions.
- Break writing into manageable tasks: Writing a book can feel overwhelming, but breaking it down into smaller, manageable tasks can make it feel more achievable.
- Find an accountability partner: Having someone to hold you accountable can be a powerful motivator when it comes to writing. You can join a writing group or partnering with a friend or colleague who is also working on a book. You could also explore the benefits of peer feedback and support in the writing process.
- Take breaks and practice self-care: Writing can be mentally and emotionally taxing, and it’s important to take breaks and practice self-care to avoid burnout. Some great strategies for taking care of yourself while writing, such as taking short breaks to stretch or meditate, getting outside for fresh air and exercise, or practicing mindfulness techniques to stay focused and present.
